To deliberate means to carefully consider. To give conscious intent, to weigh carefully the words or musical art given as a gift, and to carefully consider our response and decisions based on that gift. In the act of being a member of an audience, a performer, teacher, student, politician, business person, or for that matter, a designer of the space where the aforementioned activities occur.

Be it a legislative chamber, a church, a concert hall, a recording studio, a broadcast facility, a lecture hall, or a council chamber/boardroom. All are places wheree we ply our craft in design, giving full attention and conscious consideration to our clients needs, and making them our own.

We also got our name from our extensive work with deliberative bodies; legislatures, committees, councils, international organizations, courts, corporate boardrooms, universities, electronic learning centers, medical conferencing facilities, and other public and private buildings where important decisions are made based on auditory, visual, and other forms of communicable data.

We provide the "know how" necessary to design workable acoustics and state of the art electronic support systems. We then ensure that those systems are purchased, installed, and documented properly (so they can be easily maintained throughout the life of the system). We also write the software necessary to make all of the various modern computer based electronic systems work together properly, and then fine-tune the installation so it works as desired. We train your staff in how to use the electronic systems and the room as a whole in simple, easy to understand English, not techno-geek speak. Finally, we can provide ongoing technical advice and service to ensure reliable, stable, state of the art systems and facilities for many years to come. We provide service to clients on an international, national, state, county, and municipal level. Nearly all of our work comes from long term clients and their recommendation of our firm to others. We intend to keep our good reputation, by completing successful projects that meet or exceed our client’s expectations, and by providing outstanding ongoing service.

Deliberative Designs was founded in July of 2001, by Mr. Michael Schwartz and Ms. Heather Campbell, after Mr. Schwartz left Peak Audio, Inc. of Boulder Colorado following that firms acquisition by Cirrus Logic, Inc. Mr. Schwartz was a lead designer and consultant with Peak Audio, and was directly responsible for several of their high profile installations, including many legislative projects (see list under representative projects).

Peak Audio first obtained recognition for developing the first all digital sound reinforcement system, which was custom designed for the United States Senate Chamber. The digital core for that project became the Peavey MediaMatrix line, the industries first "virtual" sound system. Peak also pioneered audio networking via Ethernet (CobraNet, which has since become the industry standard for networked audio systems), and many other leading developments in the pro audio world. Projects that Peak was involved with include not only the US Senate, but the Sydney Opera House (with Creative Audio Australia), Stadium Australia (the Olympic stadium in Sydney Australia), several Super Bowl half time shows (with ATK Audiotek), the Metreon, the Discover Music Museum in Seattle, Disneyland Japan, Disney California Adventure, Disney Sea Japan, Animal Kingdom, and much more.

 

As a result of Peak’s acquisition and change of business focus, Mr. Schwartz decided to concentrate on consulting, and on projects where client service would be the prime emphasis.

Mr. Schwartz had also been involved in many facets of the audio and music industry for over 25 years. He has worked for and co-founded a number of professional audio manufacturing firms where he was also involved in the concept and execution of many award winning audio products. Mr. Schwartz also has extensive recording and live sound experience. As an independent recording and concert sound mix engineer, he is credited with many Platinum and Gold records as well as major concert tours. He also served as a chief and staff engineer for numerous leading recording studios.

Mr. Schwartz is augmented by the services of other leading consultants, who contract with Deliberative Designs on an as-needed basis. In this manner, Deliberative Designs is able to offer their client’s the most advanced knowledge base and track record of any consulting firm in the industry.
