The South Carolina House of Representatives Chamber,
Columbia, SC
Undertook a comprehensive chamber modernization design project, working hand in hand with the client for 25 years, through changes in technology, user requirements, and system growth.
This is based on a "virtual" endlessly configurable and changeable digital signal processing (DSP) system, with 248 inputs and 148 different mixed outputs,
in a mission-critical system implementation that can never fail, causing a loss of audio in the chamber.
Designed new cost-effective, high-reliability microphone cord reelers and had them manufactured and installed in each legislator's (member's) desk for 124 desks. This is an example of "if we can't find a commercial solution, we will make it happen to fit your needs".
A new audience gallery sound system that uses High-Q Meyer Sound Loudspeakers.
A huge networked QSC Q-Sys audio system as described above. We designed, oversaw installation, and software programming. This is a fully redundant design from the microphone output through to all loudspeakers.
Designed a computer-based system for monitoring and troubleshooting that shows any device failure for maintenance. From the microphone input through to all loudspeakers. As it is a fully redundant system with automatic changeover in the event of a single device's failure, the legislature never hears an audible problem, and the system "always" works!
An advanced gigabit Ethernet and fiber optic networked audio, control, and video multimedia systems.
Custom-designed state-of-the-art flat panel and ribbon driver multiway (tri-amped) custom line arrays that are integrated into the large LED voting display cabinets, with isolation to prevent optical artifacts due to vibration.
Custom modified QSC Subwoofers.
Custom-designed, built, and installed state-of-the-art flat panel and ribbon driver surround speakers in 8 different locations for fill.
Custom-designed co-axial mahogany wedge-shaped low-profile rostrum sound reinforcement system.
Desk unit modifications.
System tuning and adjustments.
The member's desk microphone on/off control system is interfaced with an IRC voting system.
Software configuration & design.
